About our craft
Named for the sun and the crimson heartwood
Arka Crimson Craft takes its name from Arka — the Sanskrit word for the sun — and the crimson of red sandalwood heartwood. It celebrates the rare Pterocarpus santalinus, known in India as Erra Chandanam, and the artisans who shape it.
Our work spans the full range of what this remarkable timber can become: hand-chiselled deities and ceremonial pieces, precision CNC panels and lathed components, steam-distilled oils and fine powders, and heritage furniture built to be passed down.
Every piece begins as dense, deep-red heartwood and is finished to a standard worthy of generations.
